Since long Mountains have fascinated humans and some felt
scared of them. But only within these Mountains the sage and saints find Peace.
Mountains have been watching every activity down on Earth and have kept a
record of all incidences and they share it with whoever comes to them and has
the capability to communicate with them.
Mountains have found an honorable space with the Gaddi
shepherds. As these Gaddi shepherds have been frequenting them since long time
and used Mountain Trails and Passes to migrate with their livestocks from one
region to other. Though at present this trend is on decline as so called future
generation finds this tradition a symbol of backwardness, but they keep
forgetting that the Real Life is what their parents and ancestors had.
The first generations of Gaddi Shepherd have dedicated temples across series of Mountains and Hills as a symbol of Respect to Nature gods and till date local villagers come to offer prayer to these temples and also frequented by Gaddi shepherds as well as hikers and trekkers. One of such temple is dedicated to Langha Mata (the form of SHAKTI). Within the levels of Triund Hill this serves as another trekking destination in Palampur.

Langha Mata |
This temple is located very close to Dhauladhar Mountain
Range in Palampur that has trails to Bara Banghal and Chota Bhangal beside
Satchali Pass.
The temple consists of main temple of Langha Mata, hall and
quarter for the priest a small garden and the temple of SHIVA. Whole region is
populated with Rodendhoron trees and other species. The temple is built at such
point that the cold waves have minimal effect on that part. All but the
environment is peaceful and serene. You will never feel lonely in such places.
Mobile yes, you’ll get connectivity though weak signals but still enough for
communication.
Good site for camping available on the opposite side of
temple, mineral water is available that is brought using pipelines from distant
source in Mountains and this same water is even supplied to nearby villages
like Nanahar, Kandbari, Palampur.
To reach this temple you need to reach Dramman on NH20 turn
left for Kandbari Village (the NH20 on right will lead you to Baijnath-Mandi)
and go straight without any deviation to right side (after Dramman the first
right turn goes to Gwaltikkar village).
In Dramman, you will come across Punjab
National Bank and some shops on right side as you drive you will come across
the right cut to Gwaltikkar skip this turn and keep going straight. After some
distance you will come across Rabbit Breeding Center of Palampur on your left
keep going straight and you will come across a Stay Home name Kandbari
Hills….the drive will be pleasant only with caution as this is a single lane
road on reaching Kandbari you will see a big temple on left side on turn and
Primary Health Centre on right side with a big playground to your left side
here you will come to see another right turn skip it and keep left and you will
pass Govt Sr.Sec.School of Kandbari…drive past the school and then turn right
side upward (the left road will lead to village Saperu).
Keep driving on single
road straight and you will reach upper Kandbari and wide fields and another
shop (Walia Communications). (If you are on taxi/bus then get down near
playground of Kandbari and walk left through a hand-pump > an old closed
private school > some shops and then turn left for a trail {there is a
welders shop on right hand and skip the road on right} that goes straight
through homes and will end near shop Walia Communications.
Upon reaching shop
Walia communications you need to walk another 1km to reach Nanahar village or
just drive on straight steep and rough road at one point you will come to see
the Primary Health Centre of Nanahar and the road going further right now here
skip the right turn and turn left and you will see Water Treatment Plant on
left hand and Govt Middle School of Nanahr on right hand and another shop on
right hand….
drive past or keep walking upward and after left turn park you
vehicle at clear visible side space and walk upward and you will reach the lone
shop on Trail to Langha Mata temple.
Follow this straight trail upward and upon
reaching a resting point (locally called Atiala or Tiala constructed on the
memory of loved one) from here turn right side and keep following the simple
trail
upward which becomes stiff after some point….you need no guides locals
will help you out and will tell you.
Follow the mountain trail and after an
hour you will reach the temple of Langha Mata with positive vibes in Peaceful
surroundings.
