Satchali

Satchali

Satchali; Satchali with an elevation of about  2890 meters and at the base of Waru Pass of Dhauladhar Mountain Range in Palampur region is another beautiful spot for summer camping.

Like Triund Hill and Illaka in Dharamsala, Satchali is also a base camp for trekking high Mountains and other Mountain passes like Jalsu Pass as Indrahar Pass in Dharamsala side. As till now very few people or trekkers come for camping and trekking here in Satchali, though this is a seasonal grazing ground for locals and especially for Gaddi Shepherds who with their flocks further cross over to Chamba, Chota and Bara Bhangal.
Getting ready for Days Walk and Eating

Satchali is named as here 7 minor streams unite to form a bigger stream which further below is known as Awe Khudd and over which a Himalayan Parasite (Kunali Power House) blocks it free flow!
Satchali is linked from Kandwari via Langha Mata temple, Kunali Village and Jakhani Mata Temple in Dugh Village and also from Birni Devi Temple and the trail to Satchali from Kandwari via Langha Mata is of moderate to difficult level depending on the load of your backpack and your stamina. If you opt for a Race to Satchali from Kandwari via Langha Mata Temple with whole of loaded backpack on your back then you’ll end up drained out in Satchali…the other option with heavy load is to break up your hike from Kandwari to Satchali via Langha Mata Temple is to take proper rest before and after Panala Mata Temple and climb slow and steady!
Panala Mata

So that by the time you reach Satchali you are there to enjoy the views instead of looking for pain killer in your kit, also slow and steady is advised from this trail if you plan to go beyond Satchali up to Waru Pass and further.
If you plan only Waru Pass then One night stay in Satchali right after arrival, Second night stay also in Satchali after returning from Waru Jot ( Rest and Enjoy the Peace and views of Nature in Satchali after returning from Waru Pass and have a camp fire) and on third day retreat to Palampur.
In Satchali you will find shelters made under overhung huge boulders but it is good if you carry own Tent, reason you will not have to worry for the shelter and can take your time!
Just before the base of Waru Jot on left wall of the mountain there is a fountain named as Bhima Paani ~ as during their exile Pandavs roamed Himalayas and during their stay around Bhima hit the mountain wall with his Gadda (Mace) in search of water to quench the thirst of his mother Kunti. (Mahabharata is not fairy tale or folk tale or myth)!
Early in the morning over here you will also get to see Monal, Alpine Acentors and many other plain area birds also Langoors, Black Bear, Leopard if lucky. The water flowing from glaciers and Satchali is clean and pure mineral water.
The good time to camp in Satchali is between June and September month and if you want to feel and enjoy snow then April last week to last week of May month.
Satchali and Waru Pass
Note:- if it is your first time then please avoid Solo Trekking for Satchali as all different trails leading to Satchali go through thick forests and woods that are home to Black Bear and Leopard! Solo Hiking is not advised and is completely ones personal choice if you have been to Satchali before too.

And Most Important Please Do not Trash Mother Nature; Collect and bring back your Trash to Dispose Off in City Garbage Bins ~ Be A Responsible Tourists, Trekker and Resident.
